In my case, I'm pretty sure the source is Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. One of the first scenes shows a sexy alien slave girl being thrown into a pit with a man-eating rancor. While the movie cuts away before we see anything graphic, it was still enough to associate 'sexy' with 'being eaten' in my underdeveloped brain. Growing up, I had weird fantasies about similar situations that I didn't understand until I happened across the Vore community, and suddenly it clicked into place.

To be honest, I would prefer that I never developed this particular fetish in the first place. While I won't deny anyone else their fantasies, I would personally prefer if I could leave it behind.

To answer your question, the source of trauma in childhood becomes the source of attraction in adulthood. I don't speak for everyone here, but I caught some pretty gruesome movies my parents would watch, and it kind of fucked me up.
